Welcome to Rococo, we are part of a musical and visual collective called Plan 9 who are based in Cambridge.
If there is any way we can help you with anything to do with RoCoCo or Plan 9 email us at rococoband@hotmail.com
RoCoCo is composed of tom and andrew, who are both students living in cambridge struggling to escape fear of debt by making beautiful sounds, and hiding in a haze of student surreality from the real world where people expect results. A combination of noises sounds melodies and anything else that can be produced with a guitar, small portable keyboard, laptop and some vocals. We dont know what it sounds like.... so if you do then we are happy. We're not rude, not cool not anything really..Band/artist history
Before Tom met Andrew, he was leader of his school Jazz Band, had won various jazz festivals playing the drums and had recorded a CD in an indie stylee with a couple of school mates.
Before Andrew met Tom he had also won various jazz festivals playing piano, had played in numerous jazz and rock bands and had the added benefit of a computer to make noises on.
Then Andrew and Tom met in Cambridge.
One night they got pissed with a mate and decided to make a tune about ‘procreating with ladies’ which was nice. After hearing the results the next morning they were put off making music for a number of months.
After a sufficient buffer zone (but still pissed) they sat in front of a laptop making weird noises. The next day they turned on the laptop and tried to turn lots and lots of crap noises into a nice beat. After about two more nights, they produced ‘Out of Reach’.
They thought that was good and decided to make more.Have you performed in front of an audience?Being an electronica band, there are obvious difficulties with combining samples and laptop based loops with live instruments. We are currently recruiting a couple more musicians (ie a bass player and a guitarist, and also bidding like crazy on ebay for anything that could possibly be used to trigger loops. The live set should hopefully be ready for the summer!
