Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Rock Sessions came together in it's earliest form in late 2001, when two mildly successful Sydney highschool bands broke up. Born out of the now much resented nu metal explosion, they initially brought forth a sound akin with acts such as the Deftones, Sunk Loto, Papa Roach and Hed PE. Much has changed in four years. After taking a break to find a new drummer, Rock Sessions has returned to the scene to deliver a more evolved and thoughtful take on modern alternative music.
Heavy hooky riffs are still abundant throughout their set, but Rock Sessions now explores the lighter, more subtle aspects of musical expression, indulging in haunting synth passages and heartfelt melodic vocals. The band tries to draw on each members own influences equally, and does not rule out any possibility as to the direction or sound of a new song.
Rock Sessions have always prided themselves on an energetic and intense performance. The all or nothing attitude that has kept the band together over the years is revealed through the powerful delivery of their material.
A different change in style compared to Mourningtide, Rock Sessions is a lighter version of old school MT.
Ultimately, however, Rock Sessions just wants to have a damn good time and will go 'tits up' for anyone who cares to listen. See y'all at a show!
