Rob Whitlow
The new album "Rebel's Hymn" out now features 11 tracks in the Christian hard rock genre. This is a natural progression from the earlier Rob Whitlow albums that featured more traditional CCM and worship genres. From the title track to hard-charging songs like "Our God Is An Awesome God", if you love hard rock, you will love this album.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
I've been singing since I was 2 years old. Played music with my younger brother and was in heavy metal bands through the late 80's to early 90's. Recorded my first album as a worship leader in Indianapolis, Indiana in 2007. Recorded 2 more follow up albums all in the rock / worship genre with some gospel.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Yes. When I was 11 years old I was singing in front of a huge crowd. 3 or 400 people and the track starts playing and I start singing and the mic is dead. Learned at an early age to roll with it!
Your musical influences
My greatest influence is Jesus Christ. My eclectic musical influences are everything from Stryper to Lindell Cooley. Throw in Feezel and Disciple and that rounds it out.
What equipment do you use?
Not a big equipment guy. Stopped drumming full time in the late 80's. I'm a Sure guy for mic's.
Anything else?
If you are struggling. If you are finished with trying to be good enough. Jesus died for you, he rose again 3 days later, and he did it all for YOU. You don't have to stay in the pain. He will take it. Confess your sin and repent, and give your life away to Jesus. He. wants. you. as. you. are. But you will never be the same!
