Native American singer/songwriter Rob(Songbear)Walters has worked with some of the top people in the music field through the years. His poetic lyrics and moving melodies, crossing over into all genres of music, has made the CD "Universal Visions" a hit amoung musicians and listeners. After years of playing in and around the NYC area, Songbear has moved to Florida, teaming with his manager and wife, Elonna, they have released a second 14 track collection "Rob Walters Live 2001" and is currently working with the legendary Charley Groth on an alternative/country collection.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Rob(Songbear)Walters started writing and publising poetry at a very young age, reaching notablity by the age of 17. He turned to songwriting as a means of exposing his poetry to the general public. By 21, Rob had signed a 3 album deal with London Records, and after the contract expired, he started a family and wrote and copyrighted, off and on forming bands to play out in the Tri-state area. In 1996, with his children grown and over 200 copyrighted songs, he began playing out as a solo act at small venues. By 1997 he was regularly playing the coffeehouses in the Tri-state area to positive reviews and packed crowds. His music was noticed by Negril Studio Music LLC and Universal Visions Inc. and he was asked to record on the Negril lable. The 10 track Universal Visions CD was first released in November 1999 but the Associate Producer, Universal Visions Inc., was not able to complete their end of the contract(distrubution and manufacturing) so all rights to the CD reverted back to Rob Walters. A second release of "Universal Visions" in March 2001, backed by internet airplay, has proven successful recieving critical acclaim. In June 2001 Rob(Songbear)Walters married his personal manager, Elonna, and they have produced a second 14 song collection "Rob Walters Live 2001". Rob is currently working with the lengdary Charley Groth on a alternative/country collection.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I love to entertain. Back in the Northeast I had my own show "Rob Walters & Company" and we played out 3/4 times a week. My biggest thrill was playing for over 5 thousand at the Indy Victims of Abuse Concert.
Your musical influences
Bruce Sprigstien, Buddy Holly, Bob Dylan, Blues Brothers, Bob Marley
What equipment do you use?
Write on guitar, but arrange all instruments to my music.
