Born Audley O' Brien Campbell in the Westmoreland Parish of Jamaica on the 25th of May 1972. His primary musical influence was his uncle Dennis Bacchas; this is where he fell in love with singing and became accustomed to the unique sounds of reggae. Bacchas is a talented singer and player of multiple instruments ranging from the piano, harmonica, flute, trumpet and one of his all time favorites the guitar.
In the early 80's Campbell was taken by the local entertainment spot Billie's Bamboo and Skate Lawn located in Grange hill, Westmoreland. This was the place to be. On special occasions many famous and rising celebrities would perform. Billies the owner a close friend of Audleys father was aware of his sons talent and gave him the opportunity to sing at the Lawn. This is where Audley at the age of 12 sung for the first time over the microphone. Singing a love song duet entitled Secret Lovers (Reggae Style) with a girl from his hometown.
Four years later at the age of 16 Campbell migrated to the United Stated of America. To live with his mother in Bronx, New York. He attended Mount Vernon High School. There he found a friend who went by the alias name Midget Man a native Jamaican who was the owner and selector of sound system dubbed Dragon Sound Audley Loved it; he spent most of his leisure time with the system; singing.
Tired of going from job to job Audley considered the Military; he took an interest and signed up to join the Navy in June 1996. His first permanent duty station was in Norfolk, VA for 3 years. He still kept music alive in his life. Getting gigs at various places, including the Garys Night Club located in little creek of Norfolk, performing a reggae version of the love song entitled will you still love me. He was transferred to Jacksonville, FL. There he Discovered a Club and Restaurant named Di Real Ting Café located in down town Jacksonville. A popular and local band named Pele, Pele performed there every Friday night; with special connections, Audley was able to get the opportunity to perform with Pele, Pele. They performed songs by artists such as Bob Marley, Luciano, Garnet Silk, Dennis Brown and a songs he sung numerous times before; influenced by his uncle Bacchas otherwise known as Glen Will you still love me. This was an exciting time for Campbell, proof that he was a rising body in the world of reggae.
Soon after he began to experiment with his developing talent of writing, Audley began writing his own songs and getting a feel for his own sound. Audley created the name Ripple for himself because it describes the motions of his career. Starting out humbly and becoming what he looked to be.
He is now working with Indigo International Studio in Norfolk, VA alongside Indigos Recording engineer Snyper. His first official recording was a song called The Beat performed with an upcoming reggae DJ artist :the Replacement Killa. This song was performed at the proclaimed club Norva, (located in down town Norfolk), as an opening act for the Elephant Man Show.
Ripple is currently writing and working on other singles to come.
