Rich Brown

Hi my name is Richard Brown I am a songwriter from Derbyshire. I live in Sheffield where I'm just completing a PGCE (Training to be a primary school teacher). I live in a nice house in the ghetto of Pitsmoor, a favoured spot for gun crime in the city. I write a lot about my experiences and the world around me. I am really into writing in a more general sense too, like short stories and poetry for example. Hope you enjoy the music, it might be a little rough and ready but it's honest.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
I used to be into a lot of Punk bands when I was about 15-18 but as I got older the influences of attending folk festivals started to creep in. Since I've been about 19 I started writing acoustic rock music, which eventually turned into sort of 'folk-ish' music when I was about 21.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Sometimes where I can, in pubs and venues every now and then in the North.
Your musical influences
I'm into John Martyn quite a lot at the moment, like John Mayer, Dashboard Confessional, Flogging Molly, Bob Dylan and Jack Johnson.
What equipment do you use?
An Epiphone JS200 Electro Acoustic, Freshman Cedar top folk body FA1ACD, Computer with an Audiophile jack input soundcard, Ableton Live, Cubase, Wavelab, USB Dynamic mic, PG58, 50W Marshall, Vintage VS6
Anything else?
Yeah, listen up man, all my music is free because I don't think anyone should have to pay to listen to it. I still hold the rights and what-not but feel free to copy and burn anything you like, that's the whole point isnt it?
