I'm essentially a Soul/R&B guy, but I do incorporate the influences of other genres...Gospel/Hard Bop/Fusion/One Drop Reggae in particular.Band/artist history
I've been in several cover bands. But I've only two original music bands.Have you performed in front of an audience?Currently, only as a sideman with various cover bands in Monterey, CA. But that could change.
Your musical influences
Black Quartet Gospel Groups from Mississippi(look it up), Luther V., Michael J., Prince, and Bobby Womack. The 1970's Isley Brothers, The Time, Philly Soul, Stax. Miles Davis, several of his sideman and grand-sidemen from the past 40 years. Billy Preston and Jeff Lorber. James Jamerson and Anthony Jackson. The Wailers and all the One-Drop Reggae pioneers. James Taylor, The Police. I could go on, but I won't.What equipment do you use?
A lot. I'm a multi-instrumentalist.Anything else?
I have an affection for the electric bass guitar in general and the six string bass guitar in particular. My hope is that one day it is treated as an legit instrument for writing music and not just as a audio frequency to be used for making the windows of houses rattle when you're driving in the 'hood. All comments (1)

B-E-A-utiful songs! I, too, share the sentiment re. 6-string bass/bass in general... so you will see Richard Bona and Esperanza Spalding in Kuumbwa, in February, I assume? :)
