Richard And His Guitar
I have two other bands. They pretty much consist of the same people. I have gotten tired of placing my solo stuff on those sites, so here I am. My name is Richard Benavides, and I sing from my heart. I don't have awesome equipment, and I don't have even a set band behind me here. I love God, but sometimes I complain about things.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
I started playing three years ago. I have led worship nearly from the start, and began writing songs on a mission trip three months in. I have taken in music for the past three years. God has allowed me to practically live and breathe music in my service to Him. You may not be christian and still like my songs. I hope that you jam to them, and that they touch you in some way.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I lead worship for FCA here in Kingsville, and I play at other things occasionally, leading the usual suspects in playing youth events and such.
Your musical influences
I have been influenced by those around me, some of whom are into the southern rock genre and some of whom are worship leaders, and some of whom are punk/emo kids. Also John Mayer, Ace Enders, Aaron Sprinkle, Straylight Run, The Postal Service, Chris Tomlin, David Crowder Band, Copeland, Coldplay, Delirious, Jars of Clay, Jeremy Camp, Shawn Groves, Switchfoot, and Shawn McDonald
What equipment do you use?
Washburn Acoustic/Electric, and my friends Kawai keyboard on one song.
Anything else?
I have a blog, bigpirate64 on xanga.
