Retrograde Pop
A random remark made by my musical buddy, Steve, led to a song. This is a reconstruction. The original was similar, but I don't recall it exactly.
Albert Ball was an 18 year old fighter pilot who died in the first world War.
The melody on this is very haunting, as witness I remember it perfectly after 45+ years having not heard it once.
A song I wrote when I was 17. The chorus is exactly as was, musically and lyrically. The verses are different in both ways because I very imperfectly recall the original.
Wrote this when I was 17. It wasn't even about a particular girl as far as I recall. It was just a mindless, obsessive, love song.
This song was the title song for an entire album of music I wrote when in England. I believe I wrote this just after my 18th birthday, which occurred when I was in England.
Another song where I recall the refrain and the general feel. However, the lyrics are all new, unless -- by dumb luck -- I included some of the originals beyond the repeated refrain.
A song I created in my teens from musical fragments, recreated from scratch -- different, but similar
The problem is that I do remember this song. With much reluctance I finally recorded it and had fun doing so.
Another song from my teens that wouldn't leave me alone.
I wrote this for my puppy Tigger when I was 17. It is relatively short, but extraordinarily repetitive and aggravating.
I remembered this song the other day; I hadn't thought of it in 30 years, I think. I wrote it when I was 16 or 17. It was originally a tape cassette recording. The middle 8 is new as I couldn't recall the original...
This is based on a song written for Omnium Sidarum, but includes a musical nod to our first cassette driven projects.
This is a song about the kind of songs contained on this page. It is the only song written specifically for this page and it does not date to my teens or early 20s as do all the others.
Based off of Garbage Band's first cassette album. The lyrics were the same -- except for the part about being buried. There was a three note riff, close to this. The original was untracked just two guys banging guitars.
This song was off of Steve and my fifth album, which was -- for reasons I forget -- entitled "Foot Fungus". Steve was 50% the writer of this, so if he stumbles on this page and wants his name credited, I will be very, very happy to oblige.
Wrote this one on piano and guitar at age 17. It was on our third album. It didn't sound like this, because I couldn't play very well at the time, and -- more importantly -- we couldn't track. Had to choose. Did it once guitar, then piano.
There were 3 songs on our sixth cassette album that involved a LOFI echo technique. This was one. The lyrics from the original are all included, but some extra have been added.
