Meant To Be Meant To Be

Original song by Judy Hoover that signals the band's shift from acoustic folk to alternative country.

Alternative Country

Restless Wind is a trio of middle-aged professionals who have returned, as it were, to their musical roots. We play whatever we feel like tackling this week, with not much regard for genre. Our original music tends to resemble folk rock and alternative country, although, as indicated above, we don't much care for traditional genre labels. We just play what we play.
Band/artist history
Restless Wind was formed in January of 2002 by Ken Stallman, Judy Hoover, and Robert G. Ferrell. We started out as a "living room" band, because we were too old and fond of our creature comforts to rehearse in the garage. We've written a number of original songs and spent quite a few hours in the studio, recording over two dozen songs since then. Our first CD, "Perceptions," was released in May of 2005. The second is currently in production.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
We're very selective about our live venues, mostly because at our age setting up and tearing down is hard on the back. Roadie applications are currently being accepted, however. ;-)
Your musical influences
Joni Mitchell, Cat Stevens, Gordon Lightfoot, Peter, Paul and Mary, the Eagles, the Beatles, B. W. Stevenson, Eric Clapton, Alison Krauss, Juice Newton, Norah Jones, Sheryl Crow, and just a whole bushel of other folks.
What equipment do you use?
Six string: Martin D-35, Martin JC-16RTGE, Martin 000-28EC, Santa Cruz OM. Bass: G&L L-2500, Fender Precision American Fretless, Fender Aerodyne Jazz, Applause AE140-4 acoustic.
Anything else?
We're pretty excited about the resurgence of interest in classic rock. Every generation wants to make its own unique mark on music, and we certainly support that, but it's also important not to let the groundbreaking work of past artists fade into obscurity. Music cannot evolve in a vacuum.
