Respirate is a five-piece metal band from Rochester, NY. The band was formed in May 2004 as Truth Unknown with founding members Jack Thrasher and Babak Keradman. The group added Aaron and Zach on guitar, and a friend filled in on bass. Aaron didnt work out, and was replaced with Shawn DeLano. John LaMere was added in on bass to fill the band's line-up. With the new line-up, the band renamed itself to Requiem, but then alot of other bands arose with the same name. This left the band with the name Respirate.
Their first show was played at the Penny Arcade in Rochester for Inherence's CD-Release party. Later that night, the band determined that it would be better off parting ways with Zach Wood. A week later, Dave Joksimovic of Black Alchemy replaced Zach and the band headed into East End Studios in downtown Rochester to record a 2 song demo. The band emerged from the studio in mid August with their self-titled Demo.
The band's single "Open Wound" quickly started to make a stir in the local clubs. The band prepared for it's next gig at the Steel Music Hall on the 18th of September. The band played the best show that it had ever, winning over many fans there to see other acts. Dave and John decided to focus their ideas on their other band [Black Alchemy] and left the band. Shawn was moved to bass to make room for the new guitarists. Chris and Chaz joined the band straight from their former band, Significant Other, a Limp Bizkit tribute band. The band as a whole is currently working on a full-length album due out next year and a set of new songs to play live.
