Reks aka the Chosen emcee

REKS BIO!!!! REKS was born Corey Isiah Christie in Lawrence Mass. He was barely a teenager when he fell in love with the hiphop movement. As a youngster, REKS was into breakdancing and was a part of the Funk Town Connection(FTC) dancing crew that competed around the city of Lawrence. Soon after he would begin to experiment with the rhyming element of the culture, first by mimicking the styles of some of his early heroes(i.e. KRS-ONE and Slick Rick), then by penning lyrics of his own. As the years passed, REKS began to gain notoreity around his hometown as an impressive emcee through cypher battles and stage performances. Upon entering college at the University of Massachesetts at Amherst, REKS' thirst for the microphone continued to progress. After a year at the university, REKS would venture off to a flourishing Boston underground scene where he would begin penning his classic debut "Along Came the Chosen" under the guidance of his Generation X team formed with Soul Searchers production, manager Shay Boogs, and group members Lucky Dice, Chi Knox and Kiki Breevlife. Countless other members were affiliated to form a solid foundation. Brick Records would release his critically acclaimed LP which would see him nominated for best Boston Hiphop Album & Artist of the Year. REKS would go on to be featured in the Source,XXL, VIBE and URBS next 100 to blow up all while charting at the top of college radios playlist and placing 45 on Billboards hot new singles chart with Skills 101. REKS would then release a vinyl single with Raptivism records which was also critically acclaimed. REKS would next drop a independant release entitled REKLESS which would be deemed by many a classic but received less attention as his previous work due to the limited circulation of the cd. He has since released a solo mixtape " Happy Holidays" and two volumes of Rash Music with his M Diesel team (consisting of the aforementioned Lucky Dice and Chi Knox). REKS has shared the stage with artists such as the Clipse, Ghostface Killah, KRS-ONE, Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, Redman and Method Man, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, De La Soul, Boot Camp Click and The Dipsets' JR Writer to name a few. REKS also would see his video for Still Searchin produced by Soul Supreme and released on Supremes' Saturday Nite Agenda debut featured on BET. He continues to have an international fanbase from Boston to Miami and London to Germany. REKS is currently in the lab where he has amassed over 100 tracks he is preparing for his highly anticipated third album entitled GREY HAIRS. This project is being executive produced by Smash Squad DJ Statik Selektah and features impeccable production as a backdrop to sure fire lyricism. Get ready, the best is yet to come......
