Red Leigh Cooper
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Red Leigh Cooper has been rapping since age 18 drawing influences from The Beastie Boys to Run-DMC to Public Enemy. Adding funk-infused rhythms, crushing riffs and spine-chilling vocals into the mix, Cooper has been described as bringing a tone that isn't too standard or typical for this genre...sounds kind of fresh. Her voice is aggressive and definitely has a quality to it that shows confidence, strength and developing style. With three CDs under her belt, Cooper has been featured on local radio stations and topped the charts on international Internet sites. Fronting her band StoneKracker, she has landed a spot in the 2001, 2002 and now 2003 SXSW festival and obtained showcases at the San Antonio dates of the 2001 and 2002 VANS WARPED TOUR. As she gets ready to record her fourth CD, The Hedgehog Concept, Cooper feels nothing can hold her back...and nothing does!
