Rebolt
You know how it is: The feeling you get when you hear that good old fashioned guitar riff, and suddenly find yourself singing along while you play your imaginary guitar or drums. That's what Powerage is all about.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Norwegian band Rebolt consists of four very different guys that found each other through very simple reasons: The love for old fashioned heavy metal and hard rock. The hairy and macho kind. And now theres an EP.
Made in Spite released on 28th of April 2006 has four ass kicking tunes on it. Now, kicking asses can be somewhat hurtful to the receiver and thats not the actual meaning of these songs. They are in stead trying to get your air guitar out of the closet or get your foot to press that pedal to the metal. By the way, try not to do those two things at the same time... You are warned, because these are four very unpretentious songs with soul and playfulness written all over them.
The EP was recorded January 13th - 15th 2006 and it is Rebolts first official release. The band has previously released two four-track demos under the name of Powerage back in 2004 and 2005. This time there was much more studio time, and you can certainly hear that. The guitars sound better than ever, the drums are even more powerful, the bass is rocksteady and the vocals sounds as dynamic and energetic as they do on a live stage. The sum of it all is a cliche, but still true: Its hard hitting. Some people like to compare the music to other bands, so the names of Rose Tattoo, The Cult, AC/DC and Danzig come to mind. But why dont we just call it classic hard rock with the focus on distinct guitar riffs and a steady groove?
The musical background of the four members of Rebolt couldnt be more different (well, ok, it could, but what the hell), but great guitar riffs and solos, big choruses and the unpretentious joy that bands like AC/DC, Rose Tattoo and Iron Maiden offered (and offer), lead the band together in the winter of 2004. The basic idea was that it is possible to be serious about music, without trying to be the saviours of modern rock. You dont have to invent the wheel to drive a car, do you now?
Rebolt has in the two years gone by earned a terrific reputation on the local live circuit. The reasons are still simple: The band is extremely tight and they play with an obvious joy of the music, and they have an energetic and charismatic singer that the demands the attention of the audience. This is a rock singer that can smile and look people in the eye at the same time, and still sing until his lungs bleed. These qualities has lead to support acts for internationally known norwegian bands like Ralph Myerz & The Jack Herren Band and Span, as well as lots of grins and a little more drinking in the audience. Thats exactly what the guys in Rebolt likes to do at a concert too!
Made in Spite is first of all made to please Rebolt. Secondly its made to please those that like to play their air guitar and/or thinks that the music is still more important than image.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
We plays live as often as we can. We're a fantastic live band!
Your musical influences
It was a desire to play basic hard rock that put us together, so bands like AC/DC, Thin Lizzy and Ozzy Osbourne are what makes us tick.
