RebelSlave
Ladies and Jerks, we introduce to you the only Rap group in America with the Punk Rock band name -- Rebel Slave. The duo consists of Jah-Fire Blackwell and Mash Comp -- both very old dudes who shouldn't even be rhyming now.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Rebel Slave has worked together on tunes since 1997 under other names and affiliations. There's nothing really interesting about the two of these yokels. They bust raps. Kick flows. Spit writtens. That's all you really need to concern yourself with.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
We have in the past and Mash Comp hates it. Jah Black puts up with it because he realized early on that it had to be done. We once did Yardfest 97 at Howard University to a well-pleased crowd. Mash's microphone went out and we proceeded to strangle the soundman after our set. It made us legends in the hood.
Your musical influences
Rakim, KRS, Stetsasonic, Kool G Rap, Big Daddy Kane, Slick Rick, Brother J, Nipsey Rusell (duke used to be nasty on the lyrics, B).
What equipment do you use?
Our producer Young Raven is a freaking beast on the MPC
Anything else?
Shout-ins: Peace to the Infinite Energy of Allah, to all our family that we actually talk to (and even the ones we don't), Young Raven for being the best producer on Earth and is FINNA BLOW UP, all the Metro DC artists that rock hard, DonWill for being dope as he wants to be, Loosie.com Music (spec and guin), Da Six-Five Mic Terror, Grit, T-Smizzle and you for reading.
Peace!
