Ray Contour
Welcome to the picnic. I'm your host, Ray Contour. I produce, write, and engineer a lil bit. . . trying to bring to you some fresh shizz for your speakerboxxx or to flip people's wigs when you're smokin a blizzy. Above all, I like ot rock live shows and parties, mainly because i like loud loud loud situations. I made all this stuff pretty much solo, unless otherwise noted. Enjoy.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
I've been rapping since freshman year of highschool, when my man DJ and I used to just spit over other peoples beats. By junior year, i was making beats just to perform over with Acid. Senior year, i got a bootleg of Cubase, and i've been working hard ever since. D-City, the first recorded project i completed, was finished in May of 2003.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I'm straight out of NJ, and I started rockin shows live in highschool, whether playing bass, front man, or rapping. Live shows are the best. One moment i thought was classic was when my man the Frizza from Bremen, Germany rocked a joint with me and we did back and forth English/German...that was off the hook and the crowd went nuts. Friede! Peace!
Your musical influences
Def Jux, Rhymesayers, Jay-Z (throw you a loop on that one) Outkast, Radiohead, Lightning BOlt...there i've confused you enough.
What equipment do you use?
I use a PC, Cubase, Reason 2.5, samples, Cool Edit, my Fender jazz bass, my mom's old accoustic, eurorack mixer, Octava MK 319 condenser mic. ...hopin for more stuff later!
Anything else?
Yea, open your ears and your mind, not your mouth and your ass.
