Randy Fisher

After many years of playing with and for others, I decided to embark on my first solo effort. I spent 2003 and half of 2004 with Remedy, a Hollywood R+B, soul band, and decided to concentrate on recording instead of live performance. I am currently collaborating with Willie Hines of Stockton for a studio project this fall. Willie is a far better vocalist than I am, and I look forward to working in that setting with him. I consider myself more a musician than a singer. But that's never stopped me!!
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Started at age 13 with a band called Kickback, in the Central Valley in Merced. This experience was crucial in forming my styles and tastes. This band was fronted by Jim Franklin, singer songwriter, art gallery owner now living in Hawaii. I plan to do a song of his on my solo cd.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Not currently, although performing is my first love. I enjoyed the Hollywood Club scene, playing the Conga Room owned by J-Lo and Jimmy Smitts, the Sunset Room, The Whiskey, and the Cat Club was among my favorites, owned by Slim Jim Phantom of the Stray Cat's. We had some of our best times in there. We also did a premiere party for Jamie Foxx and his producer which was pretty wild.
Your musical influences
Average White Band, Tower of Power, War, EWF, Eagles, all the 70's music
What equipment do you use?
I use a 1983 Gibson/Epiphone Sheraton, a B.C. Rich "bitch's back" a Fender 5 string jazz bass, and an Ovation acoustic, and an Epiphone nylon string.
Anything else?
It's hard to nail down a style or genre for me. It appears to be all over the place, with flavors of country, latin, r+b, smooth jazz and pop. This comes from a diverse love of music which spans all these categories and more.
