Ramsey “Pharoah” Hicks Jr. grew up around all types of music. His grandfather was a sax player/jazz musician and his father was a piano player and vocalist. This instilled the love and appreciation for music in a very young Pharoah, which would soon thereafter grow into a passion for him; he started rapping with his cousins around the age of 9 years old. As Pharoah grew older, and really started to understand music, he began writing poetry and more serious lyrical content for his rap.
Pharoah was also influenced by other well-known rap artists “Notorious B.I.G.” and “Jay-Z”. It was around the same time in high school that he hooked up with fellow rappers Joseph Lewis, Billie Davis, and Byron “Keenky” Williams; they immediately became friends and started a rap group known as the “Top Notch Boys.”They put out one mix-tape tape titled, “America’s Most Needed”, which gained them local acknowledgement by their high school peers. Unfortunately, after high school the group disassembled.
However, Pharoah continued to record music with his brother Ron Deizy, and ended up meeting another young recording artist by the name of “Sun”. Over the continuing months they became very good friends and Sun Eventually Introduced him to his cousin by the name of 40 Glocc, who was an Infamous G-Unit recording artist. 40 Glocc started a subsidiary label of his own called, Zoolife Entertainment of which Sun was signed under.
Eventually, Pharoah’s un-fulfillment of personal progress within the group began to veer him away from the group. Pharoah left the group soon after, but became more driven and focused on developing himself as an artist.
Pharoah began to collaborate with artists from different genres, including rock bands, and R&B entertainers, which often began to take him away from his beloved city of Houston on a regular basis. Commuting back and forth now spending more time in DFW, Pharoah finally found peace of mind and his own musical identity.
Now, being a very successful and highly sought after tattoo artist and being on the cusp of releasing his first Solo mix-tape entitled “Space Ship Music” along with two new hot singles, Pharoah is ready to take the music industry by storm!
