From Rakells childhood it was evident that she was destined to be a star. Born on February 17th 1985 in Fortaleza, Brazil, to musician parents, she grew up in a household that was always full of musical inspiration. From as early as the age of 5, she started performing in a group that performed at schools, family functions and local restaurants. At the age of 13, she started her own group Tentacoes and began performing at more professional gigs. It was at these performances that Rakell began receiving the exposure to a vibrant public that convinced her of her future life as a star. In 1999 Rakell moved to Barcelona with her family, balancing studies with music and dance, still participating in local dance groups whenever possible. On her first trip to Jamaica in 2003, she fell in love with the music and the culture of Dance Hall. Thus was born the idea to create a unique and contagious sound based on the fusion of Hip Hop, Dance Hall and Brazilian drum beats. Raquel is currently living in Kingston, Jamaica and defines her style as Latin Dancehall- combining hard-hitting dancehall riddims with sexy bilingual lyrics to create a unique audio experience not to be missed. She has done live broadcasted interviews and performances on popular television shows such as Smile Jamaica, Cash Flow, CTV, Village TV, RE TV .In June of 2006 Rakell appeared on the cover of the TEENAGE OBSERVER the most popular teenage magazine in Jamaica. Rakell has had several live performances at the trendy Village Café and Up on the Roof, and is preparing to perform at Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival in January 2007 and many others Reggae Festivals around the world.
