RAJENDRA TEREDESAI is one of the very gifted and accomplished classical flautists of this generation. He is an ace soloist and also heads the band named URJAA.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Yes.We do play live, both as soloists, individually, and as a band. I/we have performed all over India & many other countries. I /we simply enjoy doing it to the hilt.Of course, there have been many, many special moments. During one of my live flute concerts, hundreds of listeners in the audience & I have been witness to an incredible moment...when a koel bird came front stage, right at midnight, & actually accompanied me - exchanging musical phrases in realtime, while I was playing a raga...note for note,late in the night, to the utter amazement of everybody attending the concert. It remotely reminded them of the legends and folklore associated with one of the greatest classical singers of all times - Mian Tansen. Other highly satisfying moments are when my flute music is used during music therapy sessions for treating patients, & in meditation for releasing stress, calming the mind & for cleansing & enriching the human soul.

The music of my guru HARIPRASAD CHAURASIA, the lyrical sitar of PANDIT NIKHIL BANERJEE, the divine vocalism of USTAD AMIR KHANSAHEB, ROSHAN ARA BEGUM & NAZAKAT & SALAMAT ALI KHAN, JEAN-PIERRE RAMPAL, DUKE ELLINGTON, LOUIS ARMSTRONG. JOHNNY HODGES. I enjoy listening to JAMES GALWAY, IAN ANDERSON, MANTOVANI, RON GOODWIN, FRANK CHACKSFIELD, BEN WEBSTER, SCOTT HAMILTON, JOSHUA BELL, ANNE SOPHIE MUTTER, VLADIMIR HOROWITZ, MARTHA ARGRICH, Bolivian pan flute & the band SHAKTI. All woodwind music & music of the flutes from across the globe.
What equipment do you use?
A collection of over 300 different bamboo flutes . An ENSONIQ ASR 10 keyboard, , A YAMAHA MOTIF ES8 and a KORG TRINITY PLUS for composing. A KORG D 1600 digital studio for burning my scratch recordings and a YAMAHA O2R with PRO TOOLS, GENELEC monitors and an array of RODE, AKG & SHURE microphones.
