ProjectSalvo
Hello. We are a band that is the product of two young musicians growing up in such diverse musical styles, fusing some jazz, rock, funk, and hip hop. Also just some plain weird sounding things, probably the result of some MIDI creation. We made this project as an outlet for all the music we wanted to create that was much different from the band we participate in.
The two founders write, perform, record, produce, and mix the majority of what you will hear that comes from ProjectSalvo. We play many different instruments and sometimes bring in various musicians to collaborate with in the studio(The Stud, as we call our studio...sometimes...we call it that..).
DJSon will be contributing most of the drum grooves and is very heavy on complication and drum sonics.
DJTon will mostly be contributing his very talented guitar work.
All the other instruments will usually be played by one or the other. Other instruments include:Bass(anything stringed mostly), piano(anything with keys), and trumpet(anything brass, pretty much.).
The title DJ does not really fit us but we think it sounds cool to add to the begining of our aliases.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
We do play some live, but we will never play exact versions. We may take some melodies of ours live but we will do our best to play alone live. It will mostly be a jam kind of show.
We actually did a show not too long ago, and the other two collaborators could not make it at the last minute, so the founders ended up doing the show by ourselves switching out on bass, guitar, and drums.
Your musical influences
Tons. Everything we hear influences us even just slightly. Main influencers include dj shadow, beck, james brown, del the funky homosapien, gorillaz, and, believe it or not, coltrane...of course some beastie boys, chemical brothers, cut chemist also. Blackalicious, and edan.
What equipment do you use?
Gretsch kit, various electrics, acoustics, and basses (eight I believe), vox guitar and bass amp, coronet, rhodes, baby grand piano, midi keyboard, several shure 57/58s, and a dual g5. We borrow alot of other stuff and work in others' studios sometimes.
