PREFACE
Preface plays an eclectic groove of energetic music with influences ranging from Jazz to Reggae to Punk. They flow up and down with the crowd and morph their surroundings into a truly unique atmosphere. Calm to calamity, ebb and flow like the tide... hear the music? Come on inside.
Ryan St. Onge: Guitar and Vox
Ryan Madison: Drums
Shawn "Ween" Nadeau: Bass and Vox
AJ Morrill: Skins
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
We started playing together four years ago this August. Started as a garage thing but we quickly got gigs and started writing lots of original material. We have changed bass players twice. Our first bassist Shawn "WEENER" Nadeau left about a year ago. We got Mark Morin, a renowned bassist in the valley, then ended up landing JP Brennan full time. Jp and Ryan Madison played together in a band in high school. AJ Morrill joined playing congas and bongos about a year ago. As of late we have started working on a cd with Greg Dobbin (of Purenform) up in Berlin, NH. We are continuing to play as many shows and festivals as possible.
P.S. Ween's back! We have started work on some new recordings and added a guy named Karl to the band. Karl plays mighty mean keys. We will update once we have some songs finished.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Yes we play live and most of our recordings are live as well. We have been playing around North Conway, NH for like 3 years and recently up in Northern Maine for Hempstock and Harvestfest. Also starting to dabble in the scene in Portland, ME. We have gotten airplay on WCYY/WCYI, a Portland radio station.
Your musical influences
I would say we are influenced by almost every genre of music. Bands from Sublime, Nirvana, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Grateful Dead, to the punk side of NOFX, Bad Religion, and Pennywise. Also the jazz side of Thelonius Monk to Miles Davis. Anything and everything... except country.
What equipment do you use?
We use Fender and Carvin amps, Schecter and home-made guitfidles, Tama drums and LP percussion.
Anything else?
