Powderhouse is a female-fronted rock band from Boston. With a sound that combines alt-country, garage-rock, power-pop and indie-rock, Powderhouse has created an original sound that features strong songwriting, distinctive vocals, loud guitars, powerful drums, and hi-energy performances.
Band/artist history
Teresa has been friends with Kevin for a long time. Kevin and Ray play in a band called The New Thirty. The New Thirty has been gigging all over Boston for the past 2 years, recently releasing their debut CD "Racecar", as well as being selected to play the 2006 International Pop Overthrow Festival at The Paradise Lounge in Boston. After Teresa saw The New Thirty play a bunch of gigs, she asked Kevin and Ray to help her record some songs that she had written. Kevin and Ray thought her songs were great, so they asked their friend Evan (who also plays with Kevin and Ray in a band called Big Vise) to join them in the recording sessions. Things went so well that they decided to form a band. "Powderhouse" played their debut gig to a packed house at P.A.'s Lounge in Somerville in May of 2007, and followed-that up with a very successful gig at T.T. the Bear's Place in Cambridge in August. The band has just released a 9-song EP on FOC Records and is planning on more gigs in and around Boston during the coming year.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
We play the Boston club circuit. We love P.A.'s Lounge and T.T. the Bear's Place.
Your musical influences
We sound like a rock band that has Kathleen Edwards and Beth Orton fronting Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, with guest appearances by Jack Johnson, G. Love, Neil Young, Gram Parsons, John Doe, Warren Haynes, Jerry Garcia, Steve Earle and Lucinda Williams.
