Hip Hop General

Poundin' Records is the next biggest independent record label to hit the rap world. Coming from the middle of practically nowhere, Poundin' Records has single handily changed the pace and sound of rap up north. Based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Poundin' Records was founded by Jihan Providence (a.k.a "Roll'n") in 2002. His first recruit, Lexus, had already been making his own buzz around the city with his personal controversy with other rappers and that brought interest into Roll'n. For a little while it was just the two of them. Until a music festival called, Tuff Fest, brought the rapper named Haxter across their path. Haxter, hailing from Spruce Grove, already assembled his own crew of rappers named "The Filthy North", consisting of Yung Jones (the producer), Konnex (the rnb singer), Spontain Rich (the whiteboy) & J.R (the hypeman). Haxter had also just finished his first solo album titled "The Country Boy Soulja", which is what caught the attention of Roll'n and Lexus. Within 3 months, Haxter and the whole Filthy North Clique was brought into Poundin' Records. While all of that was going on, Lexus was talking with another rap group named "Rappers Delite", which consisted of J Flow, K Rising and Lil Ray. They also got brought into Poundin' Records after a couple of meetings and phone conversations. Roll'n was the first one to drop an album. The album was titled "Bird's Eye View". The album sold out within 8 months all across Canada. The album sold in all major stores as well as local shops in various provinces. The next album to come from this soon to be powerhouse record label, is Lexus, with his debut solo album entitled "Speak On It", which will also be selling in all major stores across Canada. Roll'n - "Bird's Eye View" (in stores now) Lexus - "Speak On It" (in stores February 17th, 2006) Konnex - "One Way" (to be anounced) J Flow - "Life Long Dream" (to be anounced) Spontain Rich - "Untitled" (to be anounced)
