Post Roman

Post Roman-This Canvas, A Vessel
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Post Roman as they are today began in late 2005, but the band has existed in some form or another since the summer of 2002. It was in late 2005 that Post Roman added lead singer Jack Tangney to their ranks, marking a clean slate for the band. Clicking instantly with Jack, the band (which also includes Dan Hind, Nick LaRousse, Harrison Aidala, and Dan Hillier) began working at a quicker pace and with a renewed enthusiasm. The result was a collection of songs that both spoke from the bands past and firmly paved the way to establishing a sound unique to Post Roman. Desperately in search of an outlet to make our music known, the band decided upon recording through the Killingsworth Recording Co. The album, titled This Canvas, A Vessel, displays Post Roman in our truest form, with Tangney's striking vocals soaring over expansive instrumentation that sets a landscape with intense mood and dynamic. The music calls to mind bands such as Thursday, Circa Survive, Pretty Girls Make Graves, and Cursive, but Post Roman's sound remains unique. This is largely due to the fact that no single member writes the songs, but instead songs are crafted by the entire band as a community. Especially distinct is the lyrical approach of the band, which relies mostly on stories written by Dan Hind, which with Jack's own interpretation are formed into song lyrics. This Canvas, A Vessel was recorded in late July 2006, and a few of the songs from the album can be heard right here on this page. The album will be available for purchase by the middle of August with a cd release show in the works. After the release of the album, the band plans to schedule as many shows in the fall as they can. Last but most importantly, we would like to thank everyone who has enjoyed our music and for their continued support. It does not go unnoticed and is greatly appreciated."
