point5-0 is the best three-piece alternative punk band out of Mississippi. There are 3 members:
Ryan Rogers: Bass, Vocals
Billy Patterson: Guitar, Vocals
Chris Brown: Drums
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
In late 1999, Billy (guitar,vocals) and Step Roberts got together and began to jam. One thing they both had in common is that they both liked to play fast. Soon they realized they needed a bass and someone to write lyrics to the riffs they had been messing around with. Then along came Ryan (bass,vocals) who soon took over as the primary lyricist in the band as well as playing bass. After Ryan joined, the band wrote enough original songs to record and produce their own full-length CD entitled Unity In Circles. Recently point5-0 has picked up Chris Brown on drums and is currently writing a second album.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Yes we play live at this bar called, Adolf's Buffalo Club. It's a bunch of rednecks who have been drinking since 1:00 in the afternoon, and are in no mood to hear punk rock. All they want to hear is Hank Williams and Hank Williams Jr. We would do anything to get out of Mississippi where our music would be appreciated.
Your musical influences
Ryan's influences include The Beatles and Bob Dylan. Billy's influences include Led Zeppelin, Incubus, and Pennywise. Chris's influences mostly come from many different punk rock drummers. point5-0's sound is a combination of all three of these musical influences blended together. They have a real powerful, punk sound with catchy, poppy lyrics.
