Band/artist history
Born in St.Louis, M.O. Growing up in the Peabody housing projects, He was forced to grow up rather quickly. His education presented itself on 5 different levels. The library. The streets. Public school. His parents and Robert E. Trice "rest in peace." It is most definitely in that order. Poet1 has been writing poetry since he was 10 years old. After discovering the library Poet1 realized he could attack his current state of being on 2 fronts. Writing and reading helped him mentally. They were outlets and at the same time doorways out of his mental and physical environment. Robert E Trice (R.E.T) owner and founder of Ready Every Time Entertainment. R.E.T was a local concert promoter. He was that human influence that Poet1 needed in his life. He taught him that there is something more than the stereotypical black man. He also taught him the ins and outs of the concert, promotions and party business. Poet1 learned to spin records. Because of R.E.T, one of greatest moments of his life is when he met Ice-T and his turntable partner Evil E. While talking with them he learned by applying himself he can make it out of anything. Ice-T told him not to let go of his dreams. Embrace the hardship and learn from them. He has roots firmly planted, so he calls The Heart Of It All his home. Nuff Said.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Yes he plays live every opportunity he gets unfortunately he hasn't as much as he would like. Poet1 performed at the King Art Center in Columbus, Ohio in 04 and people showed him madd luv. He will never forget it.
Your musical influences
Saul Williams, as with Shakespeare his poems also transcends the words he chose to use. When Poet1 reads or listen to his work he can visually see the picture he is mentally projecting. In his opinion he is one the greatest written and or spoken word poets to ever utilize an ink quill and parchment to convey his vision. Saul Williams is that bar Poet1 aspires to reach.

I have a lot of plans for the 05. 1st I want to take this time to thank everyone who supported my 1st foray into the music world with my debut of Mental Images. It did exactly what I needed it to do. It opened up tons of doors and generated opportunities for me. To internet radio local stores around my way street teams etc. My 2nd cd is completed and my 1st single will be dropped toward the end the 1st qtr. For the internet headz I have a treat for you. Toward the bottom of the page check out my 1st single off my sophomore album Natural Progression. "Tec Be Dropn Bombs" This track is definitely on fire. Enjoy. My 1st cd was poetry but my 2nd will be more hiphop driven. I'm still writing a lot of poetry but that will be reflected in my upcoming book of poems. "Mental Images". With hard work 05 will bring big things for not only my new company PoetryInMotion 2021 Ltd but my crew Shadowen. I brought together some people with the same mind set as me. The entrepreneur spirit is alive and kicking within myself as well as the peeps I've chosen. I've updated the pic section of the site so make sure you check those out. Now I would like to give you some background on the names I've chosen for my crew and company name. PoetryInMotion represents mt 1st love which is my writing. 2021 if added together is my favorite number, "5". The amount of letters in my 1st name also in the year 2021 I will be 50. My crew consist of Ntice, Op211, Lamont, ChuckD, Chris and myself of course. We make up the Shadowen. Shadowen are character's from the Shannara series written by my favorite author, "Terry Brooks". If you listen to some of my new and old tracks I'm always making references from the books.
