"This album is about pushing the envelope for African, and in particular, Zimbabwean artists. It's surprisingly less about drinking and partying, and more about just being real, and in many cases, calling a spade a spade (that title wouldn't be as catchy though, huh? lol).
"We respect & enjoy all the types of music that have come out of Zimbabwe. The Urban Grooves era was great, but let's face it, enough is enough. We've all had enough of the same s*** in a different toilet. I know this album will push our creativity beyond our wildest dreams as a people, while demonstrating a concept which is quite foreign to us: Freedom Of Speech.
"Criticize us now, but you'll thank us later!
"God Bless."
- Just Lyphe (Artist & Co-Executive Producer).Band/artist history
The artists in P.O.A. are all respectable artists in their own right. Just Lyphe won Star Brite (a Zimbabwean version of American Idol) at the tender age of 12. Since then, he has shared the stage with artists like The Lost Boyz, TKZee, Soul 4 Real, Ludacris, and many more international artists. Pinnacle, began his musical career in high school, where he performed regularly at local shows and events. Since moving to America, he has managed to build a strong following of fans through performances in some of Dallas and Atlanta's hottest venues.
POA Records was established in 2005. The group POA mainly comprises of Pinnacle, Just Lyphe, Tindo and Anthony (Poet). The group was created when Pinnacle and Just Lyphe met and immediately realized that they shared the same musical talents and values. They soon teamed up with Tindo and Anthony, and its been nothing but straight F.I.R.E. ever since!
Between the members, they have over 15 years of music experience.Your musical influences
In no particular order: Oliver Mtukudzi, Young Jeezy, 2pac, Common, Salif Keita, Kanye West, Dead Prez, Gang Star, Jay-Z, Simon Chimbetu, basically, any real soulful music with a real message. What equipment do you use?
Now why would we wanna share our secrets like that?Anything else?
Special thanks to God first & foremost. Also special thanks to Chiwoniso (www.Chiwoniso.com), Munsana, A.B.R.A. Crew (www.blaz.co.uk), Redrum, and everyone else that contributed to making this album a reality.
And most importantly, thank you to all our fans, both present and future, for the support and making this project the first of many more to come!CAMELA'S PARTY STATION
