Playaz Lounge Crew (PLC), formed in White Bear Lake Minnesota in early 2001, are quickly ascending the ranks in the Twin Cities hip hop scene. A blend of several hip hop styles gives the group a sound uniquely their own. Group members Dirty D and Mereness’ individual styles intermingle to create this sound that cannot be labeled.
Mereness originally hails from St. Paul, Minnesota. His smooth melodic delivery has drawn the attention of many fans do to its distinct style. Dirty D, originally from Los Angeles, California, has a style that is a direct contrast to Mereness. More forceful and gruff than the smooth flow of Mereness, Dirty D’s unique voice is a standout in the local scene. Together their styles combine to form a rich texture of sound that has brought them many fans. Their differing styles and influences have come together to from PLC.
The group’s first full length album “PL3 The Mixtape” has done extremely well locally through shows supporting the album. The local following has grown considerably since the release of the album in early 2004.
This success brought them to the attention of Loonatix Productions, their current record label.
