pink floyd cramer
Hi! My name is Andy Henderson. I'm an individual who mostly just plays keyboard instruments. I improv blues, rock, country, ragtime and classical- at times in a somewhat jazzy manner.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
When I'm not hired gunning I enjoy pickin' with my podners Paul "Sparky" Trollinger, Jim Bunch, Rob Plafcan, and "Cowgirl with Soul" Mary Sullivan Magee in On the Edge, quasi-house band of the legendary (infamous?) Pops Saloon in Jackson, MS.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I play at juke joints, honky-tonks, seedy lounges, and the occasional fine dining restaurant. "Last Date" works everywhere.
Your musical influences
Chuck Leavell, James Booker, David Maxwell, Jon Medeski, Sam Yahel, Bill Evans, Floyd Cramer, and all those dead white European musos.
What equipment do you use?
Steinway Grand pianos and vintage Hammond organs with Leslie speakers. Unfortunately, the MP3 encoding process may make these sound like cheesy modern-day synth keyboards. Don't be fooled!
