Phoneboy
Phoneboy is a one-man band at the moment, with guest appearances by Eddie Collin of the classic hairband Velvet Rhino.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Phoneboy's been my "artist name" for almost 6 years now, but my sound has been changing since Phoneboy's conception in Savannah, GA. Now that I've settled in Manhattan, my music is starting to go in a direction that I like (sort of electro-pop-rock).
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
At the moment, no. When I have more material for which to tour with, I will begin the process of putting a band together.
Your musical influences
I am a big fan of electronic music: Fatboy Slim, BT, Chemical Brothers. But I also admire the songwriting skills of Ben Folds, Joe-Marc's Brother, Craig Carnelia. And of course all around favorites are Herbie Hancock, Stevie Wonder, and the Doobie Brothers.
What equipment do you use?
At the moment, my setup is quite basic. Soundtrack, Garage Band, A yamaha S80, and an iMac/digi002 Protools setup.
