Phil Mauriello
A songwriter who's passion and search for quality music is neverending. He never quits on himself, pushing to get a better result all the time. From guitar ballads, to piano rock, he experiments with what sounds good, and what people like to hear.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Well I was born in Nutley NJ, oh you mean like how I started playing? I started playing under the supervision of a blues wizard also named Phil. Which is where I get a very strong blues influence and love for the blues, though I choose to not play the blues cause they supposedly are "boring" or "old". I played with a band named Impulse for a year writing original music for them until I decided a songwriters best friend is his own acoustic guitar. After recording a new album "Here's To...You" and having it do surprisingly well at our school, I have been working solo again. We did a concert on the 24th which was pretty successful. Now I'm working solo again on new material for another CD.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I used to, haven't in awhile. Would like to get a band together and try some songs live.
Your musical influences
The Who, Dave Matthews, Damien Rice, Pete Yorn, Ben Folds, Ryan Adams, Billy Joel. As you can see I'm into singer-songwriters. My style reflects that influence.
What equipment do you use?
An Ibanez acoustic, an Ibanez Roadstar Series, a Casio keyboard, and an MR-8 Multitrack recorder.
