Peter Wright
Peter Wright is the name of New Zealand born musician Peter Wright. The first thing to be aware of is Peter Wright is not a band, although he has on more than one occasion split from Peter Wright citing creative and personal differences. Great music stems from the tearful reunions.
Peter currently resides in London England where he pretends to live a normal life with a normal overdraft. In reality he is seething with contempt for society and desires to live in a cave somewhere in Nepal with a small bell and three singing bowls for company.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
From the kRkRkRk webpage....
Without doubt Peter Wright was the single most important contributor to kRkRkRk from the time of its inception, in 1992, up until late 1997 when he disengaged from the label to pursue more specialized interests under the mantle of his own Apoplexy label.
Not only did Peter co-found kRkRkRk (with J-mz Robinson), he was also instrumental in the organisation & promotion of the label - a role in which he is still most active! His willingness to contribute technical expertise & equipment encouraged many of kRkRkRk's current artists to enter the world of home recording.
Peter's own recordings, created in the 1990-97 period, comprise some of the most impressive & original music ever released by the label. Superficially similar, in style & mood to the comtemporaneous TMA-1, leonard Nimoy & Vaccine projects, Peter's solo recordings, nevertheless, bore the distinctive stamp of his personality - being deeply personal & introspective. They also reveal an affinity for the classic New Zealand music produced by the Xpressway label & early Flying Nun bands such as the Skeptics & This Kind Of Punishment. Although Peter's music considerably diverged from these sources (advancing into more international sounding industrial/ambient & folk-noir territories), the passion for home recording would remain a common denominator.
