Hi I'm Perry. First please excuse the serious lack of professionalism in anything I put up on soundclick. It's not because I'm lazy but because I'm so new to digital home recording that not everything you'll hear is completly polished and beautiful. I've grown up loving music and movies so much it's hard to decide which one I want to work with most so I'm throwing them together. If you listen to any of the tunes you'll notice they're probably not your standard elegant and emotion grabbing orchestral pieces you'll usually find in movies. I'm interested to see if you can get the same gripping effect out a movie and its music by using unconventional types of music rather than string and woodwind sections.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Up to now I've played with a few rock bands, Indie bands, acoustic duo bands and that kinda stuff. Doing that has let me listen to a thousand and one different types of music which I hope I can pour into what I'm trying to do here.
Your musical influences
I use the electric guitar because of Angus Young, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Eddie Van Halen. I use the acoustic guitar because of Eric Clapton, John Mayer and Eric Roche. It's great to sit for hours holding a guitar trying to sound like your hero and improving your technique. But anytime I feel like I'm getting good I just listen to these guys and realize I've still got a long way to go. But it's good to get knocked back down. If you thought you were as good as you can be you'd never bother learning anything again.
What equipment do you use?
I'm using an Ibanez Satriani 1000 Chromeboy for most of the work but often when I bend a note it'll take any other notes being played down with it, so I'll proably be able to put some more organized stuff up on here soon using a Fender Strat. As for digital effects the guitars are run through a Digitech RP12 effects board with hundreds of gizmos so we've got a long way to go if so far I've only used a few.
