Pennybridge kingz (PBK) are Jiar Garmiani and Kaveh Kodie Kabinejad a.k.a. G.R. & Kodie. They are originally from Middle East, G.R. is Kurd from Iran and Kodie is Iranian. Since they fled the Iran-Iraq war they settled down in Örebro, Sweden.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
G.R. & Kodie grew up in the same neighbourhood in the early 90s. They played in the same soccer-team and shared a common interest, music. They became close friends, discovered west-coast gangsta rap and got influenced to write rhymes and explore the hip hop culture. In junior high school they were asked to rap in a local talent show at their school. G.R. & Kodie won the crowd but lost against an orchestra. The jury didnt think two turntables and two microphones could be compared to an orchestra. The decision angered the crowd who left the school assembly hall in protest. The same day one of the teachers who had seen them on stage called up the manager for the city finals, where all the winners from all the schools participated. She told him about this duo that had impressed her and the crowd so much. The manager decided to let G.R. & Kodie perform as opening act at the finals. 800 youths had come to see the finals when G.R. & Kodie stole the show without participating in the contest. After that, they felt that they wanted to continue making Hip Hop music. One year later in 1998, G.R. became the producer and Kodie the head writer of the group. They named their group Pennybridge Kingz. All tracks are procuced and recorded by G.R.
