Penetraytor is a one man project, born out of a love for electronic music. As a fan of Depeche Mode, Kraftwerk, Ultravox and New Order I started experimenting with simple music making programs on my home PC. The results have been startling, unexpected and satisfying. I try to give my compositions a simple, catchy beat and interesting chord changes with strange sounds thrown in for good measure. I'm not a singer but I do use sampled voices on some tracks (none of them are me though), most of my tracks are instrumentals however. I hope you enjoy my compositions.Band/artist history
Back in the 1990's I started playing around with simple 4 track recording software on my Commodore Amiga. With the advent of more sophisticated PC based music software I began to expand my horizons and experiment further. The results are what you listen to here.Have you performed in front of an audience? Not at the moment. Find me a sweaty club, a stage, flattering lighting and a computer and who knows ? Maybe a bit of dancefloor Penetraytion ?
Your musical influences
I love 80's synthesizer music. I grew up listening to Depeche Mode (I'm a big fan), Kraftwerk, Erasure, New Order, Ultravox (when I was 16 I *really* wanted to be Midge Ure *lol*) and Jean Michel Jarre. I also like bands such a A Covenant Of Thorns and Tom Aragon who I discovered a while ago on the internet. I could never emulate these artists, but they have given me some ideas. My favourite instrumental of all time is Equinox Parts 5 to 8 by Jean Michel Jarre. One day I'll come close to that standard :) Other influences include OMD, Visage, Gary Numan, Genesis, Marillion, Enya, Tears For Fears, Tangerine Dream and Jethro Tull - too many to mention really, and quite a mix you might say. I suppose I've just been through my CD collection and picked a few names at random ! My musical heros range from Dave Gahan and Martin Gore of DM, Alan Wilder (aka 'God') ex of DM, Midge Ure, Tony Banks of Genesis and JMJ (of course).
Finally, and not least, all my friends on SC. They are listed on my message board and links page. Each and every one of them is a true friend and a very talented artist in his or her own right. Please take time to listen to them all. What equipment do you use?
Everything I compose is done on a PC with music creation software, my imagination, experiences and emotions. My early tracks used FL 4.5.2 and FL 5.02 XXL Edition. I am now using FL 7.Anything else?
Please feel free to drop me a line by e-mail or message board and let me know what you think.facinating1's station
