Chad Reed was born and raised in San Francisco Bay Area. Both of his parents were jazz musicians, so music was passed down from his parents. He first started rapping in junior high school with a group called “ The Paperhouse,” and started performing at local talent shows. After “The Paperhouse” broke up, he chose to pursue a solo career. During high school he produced multiple records that played on the local high school radio stations. After being frustrated with the direction of his career, he decided to attend college and learn the business of music so he could control his own destiny. He attended Los Medanos Junior College in Pittsburg Ca, were he studied under the great tutelage of the Grammy winning producer Frank Dorrite. He started an internship at Cell Block Records and managed a young jazz group named “Yohimbe”. This young jazz group became very successful playing all over the Bay Area in clubs such as: Storyville, Raselas, Black Cat, Geoffrey's Inner Circle, Some Place Else and Maritime Hall. In the summer of 1999 Chad experienced a tragic loss of his mother due to the life threatening disease, AIDS. After her passing he could no longer manage other groups, so he decided to pursue his own career.
