I am 22 years old and have recently completed a music degree at the University of Wales, Bangor. At the moment this page is just for music I composed during my degree, as I don't have access to a studio or recording equipment. These pieces are mostly experiments in electroacoustic music, written during the past year. There's also one or two of my better attempts at rock/pop/etc. Please have a listen and tell me what you think.
Hope you enjoy.
Cheers!
xxxBand/artist history
I suppose I have been playing cello for about fourteen years now, but I didn't start composing until I was fourteen. Since then I've done my GCSE's, A-Levels and Degree with a very high emphasis on composition. I seem to have a bit of flair for it, and am improving all the time. Still a long way to go though I think, so any useful advice you have would be most welcome.Have you performed in front of an audience?I haven't done any live performances of any of the pieces here, no.
Your musical influences
I suppose the biggest influence on the more experimental pieces would be Andrew Lewis, as he was my lecturer in electroacoustic composition (and also one of my favourite electroacoustic composers). But I also enjoy listening to Explosions in the Sky, Mogwai, Hood, Smog, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Do Make Say Think, Set Fire to Flames, Molasses, Joy Division, Radiohead, Lightning Bolt, Belle and Sebastian, Bright Eyes, Papa M, Arab Strap, 65 Days of Static, Hella, Battles, Les Savy Fav, Acid Mothers Temple, Blonde Redhead, Hangedup, Silver Mount Zion, Vibracathedral Orchestra, Boris, Sigur Ros, Mum, Tristeza, Berg Sans Nipple, Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, The Arcade Fire, Interpol, Rachels, Phillip Glass, John Adams, Pierre Boulez, Glenn Branca, Henryk Gorecki, Arvo Part, Igor Stravinsky, Johanne Sebastian Bach, Miles Davis.......What equipment do you use?
Pro-Tools.
Don't ask me about versions and stuff, because I don't know.Anything else?
If you like what's here, then I would be very happy if you visited my page on Sibelius Music, where you will find some of my acoustic compositions, including my main university project, Strands.
It is here:

The prices are for if you want to print them off. Listening is free, although you may need to download Scorch, but that's quick and easy and painless.

Good morning! Lots of thanks for the feedback I appreciate it. I hadn't thought of the Smog influence before, but I do like their song "Your Wedding." I dig your stuff quite well though. I felt a tsunami in "Indosnesia." It reminds me of Sufjan Stevens album "Enjoy Your Rabbit." Any influence there? Keep me posted for more tracks. Indeed! Jason
