Can't Tell Me Can't Tell Me

Electropop

Inspired by video games and cartoons of decades past, in combination with the marvels of modern technology, OttO Vector is a highly-animated experiment that strives to inject brighter character and panache into the world of electronic pop music. With a focus on heavy beats and catchy melodies, OttO Vector represents a balanced synthesis of "live-band" and electronic/dance/techno music- with pop sensibilities.
Band/artist history
OttO Vector arrived in Detroit in the Summer of 2002, created by Mike Sonic and Ginseng. Both had many years of experience as members of "live" bands in Detroit, but neither ventured into the purely "electronic" realm. Using their years of collective musical experience as a guide, Sonic and Ginseng wrote and recorded a small library of electronic techno-pop songs. While this was sufficient for many months, the group became ambitious to take their new project a step further. Wanting to further expand the boundaries of the project to a "live/performance" venue, the group recruited the full time talents of both Will Daviddi and Jacobe to play live drums and bass, respectively. The soul of the project was defined by the addition of newcomer vocalist Renee', the humanity of her voice serving as a perfect foil to the electronic audio landscape. Thus was born the electronic-pop-rock hybrid that is OttO Vector.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Yes. Live. Detroit area. Love every second of it.
Your musical influences
We like funk, we like groove. We listen to everything- but that doesn't mean you'll hear it directly referenced in our music. For example- we're HUGE fans of Tom Waits...but you probably won't find any musical similarities in our songs.
What equipment do you use?
Korg Triton, Roland Fantom, vintage Moog, Tascam DATs, Boss Dr. Sample, Gibson SG, a massive variety of pedals and stomboxes by Electro Harmonix, Voodoo Labs, Boss, Line 6, etc., Pearl Customs, amps by Marshall, Hartkey, Mackie, Ampeg, etc., Sure Beta mics, Behringer mixers, blah, blah, blah.
Anything else?
Let's think about steamed tofu and rice noodles for a bit, and we'll get back to you soon...
