Onyan And The Burning Flames
In 1985, the Burning Flames band became a household name in Antigua.
Their brand of Calypso/Soca music was new. It was no longer our parents music but something the younger audience could relate to and get involved with. They revolutionized the format of the Calypso Band. They proved that it was not necessary to have a band with sixteen or more members with instruments to produce a quality sound. They took the Caribbean by storm, blazing a trail to every port.
The Burning Flames became Antiguan Ambassadors, traveling to every populated island in the Caribbean. They later became Leeward Island Ambassadors as they took their brand of Calypso/Soca music to Amsterdam, Brazil, Canada, Columbia, Costa Rica England, Italy, Peru and over twenty-five cities in the United States.
