One Day Less
One Day Less is a rock band based out of Michigan. Pulling from influences like Blindside and The Juliana Theory (and a lifestyle soaking with music) to create a blend that is wholly original and full of enthusiasm.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
In 1999, guitarist/vocalist Rich Scherf and drummer Dan Buzzell were part of a brand new high school trio named Soulstice, brought together for the purpose of participating in a school talent show. After no more than a month of practice, the audition came and Soulstice played with passion, fervor, sweaty palms and shaky/off-key vocals. Apparently, the group wasn't as good as they thought; Soulstice got cut. The story continues... Three bassists, one year, and a name change later, Andrew Fort completed the lineup that is One Day Less today. They played clubs, basements, outdoors shows and youth events in three different states. With increasing demand, the band was prompted to begin its first major recording project a la Rich's basement. With Cool Edit Pro and a single $2 computer mic, the first One Day Less EP was released summer of 2002 with 5 songs. Several hundred copies were burned and cheaply stamped, then sold for profit (not enough to tax, back off IRS!). Making money and having fun, the band decided to invest all its hard earned cash into building its P.A. system, piece by piece. Rich and Andy went on a Musician's Friend shopping spree, and Dan had a mild heart failure. Rich's credit card has been maxed-out twice, but he has an awesome credit rating! Since September of 2003, One Day Less had discontinued booking to focus on writing and the release of our newest endeavor, a 10-song CD entitled "Life" due out this June of 2004. Now the band is propelled with same the fiery passion known to all professional business entrepreneurs. This summer we will make One Day Less a well-known and highly respected name, first in the local community, then in the music business. The past several months have been arduous. The standard has been set meticulously high. Professionalism can be expected and the entertainment will be perfected. Our name itself describes our attitude to life's goals, as we earnestly proclaim: One Day Less.
