Of All Kinds: alternative metal band from Northwest Indiana.
Band/artist history
The band started off as a mere replacement project for a show that had been scheduled. The band scheduled to play, Silver Meckanizm, broke up only a few weeks before the show, and the remaining members were stuck. Those remaining members, of course being Roye Robley (drummer) and Basil Gardner (lead guitar). After some thought, Roye decided on a plan: get two friends from school that he knew, teach them a few songs he and Basil had written and learned, and perform at the show. The two did just that, and although the project had been recruited as nothing more than a replacement band, the undeniable dedication the new members (Chris and Kevin) brought to the table was inexcusable, they needed a band and so did Basil and Roye. The four formed Of All Kinds (a name that reflects the member's ideas toward individuality and creativity) The show went over well, and Of All Kinds booked heavily that summer, focusing on development of their yet, undeveloped originals. Soon after its first summer, the band met up with a friend of their's from high school (commonly referred to as Mr. Bryan Pirosko). Bryan had (and still has of course) a keen sense of rhythm and was recruited to fill in the rhythm guitar position. Of All Kinds began to draw large crowds to their shows and they even recorded their first demo entitled "The Black and White EP." In 2003, Chris Rogus (former bassist) left the band for personal reasons and Of All Kinds were in an unfortunate rut. Thankfully, through word-of-mouth, the band found Joe Ferguson (a promising bassist from East Chicago). Remarkably, Joe fit in well with the band, and was declared the new bassist of O.A.K. Joe's incredible sense of creativity and rhythm brought the band to knew heights. Old songs were better and new songs were just amazing. The band was glad they'd come across such a fine musician. Now, Of All Kinds is not only focusing on performing, but also achieving their goal of making as many fans as possible. The band has had a lot of room to grow over the past few years, and they can't to wait to tell everyone (and they mean EVERYONE) how much progress they've made.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Yes, we play live. Usually, we play in and around the Northwest Indiana region. Playing live is probably the greatest thing about being in a band, and we've had a lot of fun doing it.
Your musical influences
We take influences from such contemporary acts as Incubus, Staind, Linkin Park, Cold, Pulse Ultra, and Tool. Our band, fortunately, has had the oppurtunity to branch out our listening thanks to music education programs at school, so you'll often find us listening to works by the likes of Ludwig Van Beethoven, James Newton Howard, Dmitri Shostakovich, Claude Debussey, Anton Brukner, and many more.
What equipment do you use?
We use Ibanez basses, Les Paul, BC Rich and Ibanez guitars, Tama drums, Vater sticks, Ludwig and pearl drum hardware, Samson microphones, Peavy and Crate amps.
