Nuke and the Living Dead is a four-piece horror punk band from Detroit. Influences include (but not limited to) Misfits, Ramones, Fear, the Damned and Rancid. The music is comprised of catchy sing-a-longs, beer drinkin' anthems and fast paced riffs. Other styles that you might find within the songs are rockabilly, ska and some hardcore. If you come out to a show you won't be dissapointed. We always have a good time and aren't happy unless everyone is also.
Band/artist history
We are four very different guys from different backgrounds drawn by the love of punk music and good times. While only a year and a half has gone by, we have laid our mark on the Detroit scene. Johnny has been playing bass in metal bands with Deano for about eight years and he wanted to play guitar for a chance to play music with long time friend Nuke. After several months went by we decided to recruit Renfield on bass to let Nuke get more aquainted with the crowd during shows.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
We have a small handfull of Detroit venues we love to tear up. Our all-time favorite would have to be "the Labyrinth". Although "the Lab" isn't operating anymore, we have tons of memories and stories we would love to share with you if we get into a "drunken, story telling" mood.
Your musical influences
Misfits, Rancid, Fear, Ramones, the Damned, Mr. Monster, the Betty Fords and many more.
What equipment do you use?
We're not really picky on what gear we use. Currently Johnny plays either a Gibson Les Paul custom that was inherited from his dad or an Epiphone ES-335through a Marshall 2x12 combo amp. Renfield plays an Ernie Ball Music man bass through an Ampeg SVT-Classic tube head and an Ampeg 4x10 cabinet. Deano Valentino plays Pearl drums and Sabian cymbals.
