Nu Empire

Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
In 2007, during OIF 8, Virsatile, C-Money, Fokys and Authentik were stationed at Camp Taji, Iraq in the United States Army and it was during this time Nu Empire Music Group (NEMG) was formed. The four soldiers began writing music and agreed that when all four members returned to the United States; they would officially begin pursuing a career in the music industry with the ultimate goal being to launch a record label one day. After successfully hosting several of these local area talent shows which were advertised through flyers, Internet and radio spots the shows began to gain Round the Way notoriety. During a planning session, the discussion of how NEMG could pursue their own musical careers and launch a recording label would again come to the table. The management experience the group was gaining through hosting and promoting talent shows was the foundation for starting a company through which they would incorporate a record label that would allow the group to pursue their ultimate goal. In August of 2008, NEMG successfully completed their first music compilation under the guidance and direction of Jonathan Currington and Platinum Reign Studios. The achievement of this milestone officially positioned NEMG to file the necessary paperwork to become a licensed business. Although, NEMG was founded in 2007, the group officially became licensed as a for profit, Washington State Company which would be headquartered in Tacoma in 2010. The company officers of NEMG, LLC are: Chief Operations Officer, G. Bennett (Virsatile) Chief Financial Officer, C. Brown (C-Money) Chief Executive Officer, A. Rocket (Fokys) Chief Information Officer, S. Jones (Authentik)
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
We have countless live performances in our resume. We have performed in Iraq when we were still in the Army by opening up for Paul Wall but stateside its mainly in the Northwestern region. Performing is the ultimate satisfaction to an artist thats been working so hard on their project especially when the effort is received with open arms by fans. Its so many special moments but one would have to be when Lil Flip heard an accapella version to a song and wanted to get on it or when Keak da Sneak said we killed the stage that night better yet when 85% of the crowd knew all the words and danced to the songs while we were on stage!!!!
Your musical influences
Our musical influences stem from real life experiences. Artist like Steve Wonder, Outkast, Jay-Z/Rocafella Records, Sam Cooke, Sean Combs/Bad Boy Records just to name a few who has had their share of influence on Nu Empire.
What equipment do you use?
Pro Tools or Digital Performer is what we usually record on but we prefer to mainly record on Pro Tools. we have a Bluebird microphone to record with.
Anything else?
