Band/artist history
Rock music has become an umbrella over an array of genres, while the status quo continues to classify bands into these divisions. Now Transmission (from Maine) look to break these chains and to not be labeled under a single genre. "Taking Back The Unsaid", Now Transmission's second self-released EP makes this statement. Not following any sort of cookie cutting pattern, the songs display hints of the individual member's influences. "Won't Be There", the first track off the EP, rips into a riff that hints at a grunge-rock influenced childhood of the members. This is contrasted by "Nothing", a powerful mainstream rock ballad and "A Night On The Town" which is part punk, part power chord indie rock. Two years after the formation of the band, the new EP justifiably represents what the band is, diverse. "When we recorded our first demo, we were still in a position of finding out what the band was going to be, said guitarist Ray Labbe. "When you get together as a band, at first there's a feeling of not having an identity. With this new EP we've gelled together and have a direction of what we want to do musically." With signs of rock, grunge, indie rock, punk, acoustic and many others can be seen they strive to produce music that jolts feelings, and does not feel mass-produced with a lack of depth. With powerful lyrics and high energy Now Transmission will change their audience one show at a time.
