Nowhere Blue
Alternative Folk Rock Acoustic Blues
acoustic guitar duo from southern utah
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Michael Evangelista and Chris Gay of Kanab, Utah, have been writing, playing and performing their own blend of 'alternative-folk- rock-acoustic-blues' together since the summer of 1996.
Michael, 29, plays rhythm guitar and harmonica, and provides the lead voice for the group's soulful, lyrical and occasionally playful songs. Chris, 26, completes the sound and highlights the mood of each piece with diverse lead guitar stylings and backing vocals.
The name Nowhere Blue reflects the openness of their surroundings in Southern Utah, as well as the mood and feeling of their music.
Michael grew up and learned to play guitar in Venice Beach, California, He is the father of four and assistant editor of the Southern Utah News in Kanab, Utah.
Chris, who cut his musical teeth in Italy and San Francisco, is currently working towards a degree in art from SUU. In addition to his musical talents, he is an avid painter and collage artist.
They have recently released their first CD, Living in a Dream, and are working on a second album cut from local live recordings.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?

Your musical influences
street musicians, songwriters, hobos and real folks make the best music. we have been told we sound like blind melon, tom petty, dylan, and others depending on the song and the alcohol content of the venue.
