Nova Lovechild was a short-lived psychedelic indie-pop trio that hailed from Minneapolis, MN. Influences include such classics as Sgt. Pepper-era Beatles and Pet Sounds-era Beach Boys, as well as more modern The Stone Roses and Olivia Tremor Control.
The band was formed in late 2004 by Freddy Hanson and Lane Trisko, who had played together in various bands while in high school years earlier. The pair invited Jesse Miller to join in March 2005 and the trio immediately clicked. They recorded their first demo during their second ever practice as a band; featuring no overdubs, the recording captured Nova Lovechild's live energy. Playing their first gig billed as 'Rats With Razorblades Instead of Wings', the band began recording a more intricate demo throughout that summer featuring layered guitars, three-part vocal harmonies and unusual instrumentation. By the fall of 2005 the three members began to splinter into their own projects and performed their farewell performance as 'The Ultraviolet Fuzz' in September.
Nova Lovechild is currently on an indefinate haitus. Lane is perfoming his songs in bluegrass/folk trio The Northern Roots; Jesse is performing his songs in the avant-pop experiment The Curiously Strong Peppermints; and Freddy is playing guitar for indie-pop quartet The Watching Stars, while working on his own material for a future project. Both Nova Lovechild 3-song demos are available here for download and your listening pleasure.
