Band/artist history
Rachel Welles and Erika Foster are the original founders of the band, Nought To Sixty. The two guitarists had been in many short of successful bands prior to Nought To Sixty, and decided that bands were too much work and started to jam in Erika's room by themselves. With Erika on drums and Rachel on guitar they started becoming bored of the same old guitar chords and Erika's lack of skill on the drums. After a few months of jamming they invited a friend, Andrew (original drummer) to come jam with them. Believe it or not - Nought To Sixty was formed in Erika's bedroom in the summer of 2003 with the sole intention of creating hardcore music. Heres a sample of what they did Back then the line up was- Erika: Bass Guitar, Rachel: Guitar and Andrew Chu: Drums. After a month of practicing their hardcore songs Erika became bored and started writing her own pop-punk songs, which she brought to band practice and Nought To Sixty was born. The line up had changed, so Nought to Sixty was in need of a bassist. Erika found the bassist when she was trying to get his other band into Skoolapalooza, she asked him to come to one of their band practises and try out being their bassist. Shortly after Andrew Chu left the band and Erika asked present bassist Dom to find a new drummer, Sacha Van Dam who played Nought To Sixty's first show with them. Sacha then left because he wanted to concentrate more on his first band, Subdermal Abrasion (includes Dom). After which left the band due to a lack of time, Dom then found a new drummer: Jason. THEN around March 2004 we added a new bassist Jerome Chong (he IS SUPER DUPER FANTABULISTIC AT IT) from the band Ardent Memories. Why? Rachel had to concentrate more on singing because she TRIED to sing and play the guitar like Billie Joe and Brody Armstrong...and Nought to Sixty arn't exactly like Green Day let alone The Distillers. This left Dom and Erika to guitar and Rachel onto vocals. So presently Nought To Sixty's band line up is: -Rachel Welles (vox) -Erika Foster (guitar/vox) -Dom Lee (guitar/vox) -Jerome Chong (bass) -Jason Tan (drums/percussion)
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Sure! We'll play a show anyone asks us to. Equipment tends to screw up on us a lot though...there was this one time at our 3rd show, where everything went relatively fine until our 4th song when Rachel's capo broke. Typical...just typical.
