NOT JAZZ is typically a trio which has guest artists such as other vocalists occasionally. The band performs mainly original material and features extended jam sessions in amongst the vocally oriented songs. Bandleader Mike Rewa plays rythm and lead guitar and writes most of the songs. NOT JAZZ was formed in 1993 and the personnel of the rythm section has changed 5 times since the bands creation. Bandleader Mike Rewa keeps plugging away, writing tunes and assembling rythm sections as best he can.Have you performed in front of an audience?NOT JAZZ is more of a performing band than a studio band. But since our area, north Delaware, basically only books top 40 or frat jams, NOT JAZZ typically performs at large private parties and the occasional outdoor festival.
Your musical influences
NOT JAZZ has many influences but has been described as sounding a bit like the JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE. Which is quite flattering because we don't intentionally try to sound like the great EXPERIENCE!Anything else?
At this time NOT JAZZ is undergoing a change in rythm section personnel. Mike is busy arranging and recording his new tunes. The most recent tunes sound like hard folk rock, but Mike is anticipating a bunch of writing this spring once he gets his disposable guitar cleaners to market, and once his co. REWARD RECORDS releases a charitable tribute to the late, great Shawn Lane. Which features some incredible tributes to Shawn and is titled, "One Truth - a Tribute to Shawn Lane". This ought to be pressed and available in April 2005.
