North of Sam
We're a band from Kitchener Ontario. We play all over the city including the two Universities - Waterloo and Laurier. We play a mix of rock, punk and reggae with our influences ranging from Weezer and Chilli Peppers to the Toot's and the Maytals and Bob Marley. We love to have a good time when we play and entertain the hell out of our audience. If you ever hear of us coming around check us out cause we promise you'll have a good time!
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
We came together around 2000. At that time the band included Pete Molloy(vocals, guitar), Ryan Grzesiak(lead guitar, vocals), Mike McCullah (Bass), and Tibor Torok(Drums). After a few months of playing together bassist Mike McCullah decided to retire and to make things easier we replaced him with another Mike - Mike Blasutti. In the Spring of 2002 we recorded our first three tracks at Rea Studios - 'Don't Delay','The Judge's Decision' and 'Predicatable'. Not long after this Tibor left and we needed a new drummer. Came along, Mark Rudnisky. Mark had played in other bands as a singer and guitar player but never as a drummer. Having only played drums for a short while Mark picked up right where Tibor had left off and added some awesome backup vocals. This led to the 2004 release of our first album - "Wounded Soldier." In the months leading to the release of Wounded Soldier North of Sam's roster further grew with regular appearences by singer Carly Blasutti and Trombone specialist James Moffat (heard on "Intro Memento" from Wounded Soldier). We are currently writing more songs to include both Carly and James on a regulars basis. So come check us out if you get a chance. Every night is a different experience and we always gurantee a great show!
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
